STRIPPING!!

Time to take the ugly siding and see what's under it.  And while we're at it let's replace the windows since all the ones in are awful and non period to the house.  So we slowly made our way around the base. (Yes I know it was November when we removed some of it.  I know we're crazy)

So under the white was battle ship gray.  Funny story I always heard this color was so popular because during and after WWII there was an easy access to cheap, battle ship gray paint. Used on battle ships and apparently on 80% of houses painted during this time.  So not a lot of work went on in the winter .  Making plans and just learning the houses quirks!
