George Partridge Mansion
The George Partridge mansion was located at 1 Groveland Terrace. Built by famous Minneapolis architects Long and Long the mansion was a true item of beauty. Partridge was the vice president of the Wyman, Partridge & co which was wholesale dry goods. The position allowed his to build a beautiful mansion which nearly stood the test of time. Sadly like most homes the great depression hit hard and the mansion was sold to the school of Psychology and Divine Sciences in 1936. The house was used as a school until the school left and the home became vacant and ran down. In the name of urban renewal it was destroyed in 1954.

I have the piece that was taken out of the spot you see above the garage door. Very detailed sculpture of a old car.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. How did you come by that? Please take good care of it as it seems the current owners don't care about preservation, but hopefully one day someone will and perhaps you can return it to that person who decides to love the house again.
