Hi Friends,
As I keep thinking about what the next project will be for the house (I'm dreaming of the kitchen) I have been buying all my accessories for what will compile into the dream. When designing a period kitchen, it’s often the smaller accessories that make the biggest difference. These everyday objects—bread boxes, lighting, enamelware—are what transform a space from something that looks vintage into something that actually feels original.
With the stove currently being restored, I will build the kitchen and colors around this image. If you want to read ALL about my stove you can see the links here: Wedgewood Stove Restoration
So I of course needs LOTS of accessories to go within the kitchen and to compliment my there. Here is what I have been buying so far.
A vintage cream and green bread box with glass top. Do I really need a bread box, no but I feel it will fit in perfectly! I found this one on eBay but they have lots of similar ones for sale: Vintage Bread Boxes on eBay
This 1930s bird shade pendant I envision going over the sink to provide some accent lighting. I just LOVE the style of it and think it will fit in perfectly. I see the exact shade is for sale on eBay (at time of writing this posting) :

This is my early 20th century earthenware kitchen sink and it is HEAVY! I have no idea how I'm going to get it in the house, but think it will be absolutely divine and I cannot wait to use it every day.
These basketweave shades will be what I want to use as pendants over the island. Yes I need an island because I have VERY little wall space for cabinets and countertops after the stove and sink are in. These I envision adding just the perfect lighting glow in the kitchen.
My 1935 GE Monitor top refrigerator. I found this rare version out in CA and had it shipped directly to the restoration place. I honestly haven't even seen it in person myself but I know it's going to be amazing. I have gone back and fourth a lot about what to do with this fridge. My first thought was to put it in the basement for extra beverage storage and use a modern fridge that looks period, but it just seemed to me to be such a shame to put such a beautiful object in the basement when I have a whole period kitchen going.
This was the fridge I considered to put in the kitchen. It looks authentic, but not cheap. So right now I am leaning to use the vintage GR fridge and then use freezer drawers That's what I am thinking now, but lets see what I do when the time comes.
Porcelier basketweave set of toaster, waffle maker, sandwich press, coffee percolator and coffee urn with creamer and sugar. These will go perfect with the light shades and these all work. You can see some current Porcelier toasters for sale here on eBay:

So I think I have a good start. Of course I will have the annunciator hooked up and the speaking tube in, but that will have to wait for another post. I am getting excited, even if I am a distance from starting on the kitchen. I’ve been sourcing these pieces through a mix of antique shops, online listings, and vintage dealers. I’ll continue updating this list as I find more pieces that fit the kitchen.
