Hello Dear friends and happy end of September. What a month it has been and I am nearly at the end of my exhaustion with radiators. I love them because of the heat, the look and the feel of these beautiful beasts, but I HATE them because they can cause so many troubles! My warming oven saga continues! As I mentioned, I purchased this matching Rococo radiator site unseen from Facebook, because I knew how rare they were and how I always wanted one. I snapped this one up (and paid a hefty price for it) then paid to have it delivered to Minnesota from Michigan. This was no small investment but I took the gamble. When it arrived, I went about testing it, getting it ready to install and my heart sank when I discovered it had leaks. Being a stubborn man, I desperately searched for a company to restore it and I found 2 companies, both in Canada with one of the companies having offices is Connecticut. I decided to send the radiator to Connecticut and keep going with the process.
Packed up and ready to ship.
My first error was putting the doors on the item to ship. I should have placed them inside the oven, because the first message I received was that the doors had arrived cracked. I am guessing a pallet was put on top of it and cracked them. This of course was frustrating to no end, but what could I do? The company said they could repair it with pins, but that you could still see the crack. Again no choice but to keep going.
As I waited for news that it was finished ANOTHER email came in this morning. It said:
""Hello Matt,
We start working of your radiator, so far 7 sections are cracked from frost on that radiator. We can replace some from our inventory, therefore at this time the long section(last picture) is a very rare piece that we cannot replace without taking it from an existing collection oven our ours, which is a radiator that once restore we can sell for over 5k.""
The news hit me as I woke up and so luckily it wasn't in the middle of the day when patience was limited. Another sigh in my heart and knowing that I could do nothing and wasn't ready to give up, but to give the OK to keep going and do whatever we can to get this beast working again. I did find it interesting to see it taken apart and see the 3 hole section of radiator. So let us all pray that it can be put together and leak proof again after all this pain and headaches.
Half this radiator broken, most probably would have given up, but I'm stubborn. Frankly I should have just paid a fortune for an already refurbished one. By the time this one is done, it will be near that price. The cost of my insanity is deep and let us hope this one can be saved. Another day fighting the old and broken down to give new life again. I just cannot let things die without a fight.
